We were only able to get this product in a 28 gram bag (instead of our customary 3.5g) because no other size was available.

Wedding Pie from Back Forty is a peppery indica-dominant strain that was created by crossing Wedding Cake with Grape Pie.

This flower is known for producing both high THC (up to 28%) and terpene (2.89%) ratios. The strong cracked pepper aroma and flavour is created by a terpene cocktail that includes trans-caryophyllene, linalool, farnesene, limonene, alpha-bisabolol. Back Forty describes the buds as being a darker green with purple highlights burnt orange hairs. This strain sounds delicious but how does Back Forty’s Wedding Pie smoke?

Smell

Since Wedding Pie is the first product we’ve reviewed from Back Forty, your guess is as good as ours in terms of what to expect. The product arrived in a larger silver bag that reminded us of those dehydrated meals they take into space. We cut open the top and we were immediately hit with a very strong aroma of black pepper, spice and a spritz of lemony citrus at the beginning.

Appearance

Back Forty’s Wedding Pie looked great. The buds were dense but still spongy and covered in an even layer of trichomes. Trim job was good even though some were still a bit stemmy. The colours were a mix of light and dark greens but they were also covered in purple highlights that really standout against the bright orange hairs. Unfortunately there was no moisture shield inside the bag so even though the buds were dense and spongy, there also was a fair degree of dryness.

Flavour

Wedding Pie’s flavour profile is strong and a close match to it’s smell. The initial lemon citrus greets you at the start but is quickly overpowered by cracked black pepper which surprisingly was not too harsh but a touch spicy. After smoking for a day or two the spiced aspect disappears as you become more conditioned; leaving the flavour a touch of lemon with a pleasing black pepper garnish. We didn’t mind the flavour after we got use to it, but could easily see why some users might not like this one.

Experience

Given the price of $139.95 for 28 grams, Wedding Pie from Back Forty provides solid value for the money. This product leads with a strong writers-block type of mental high which is compounded by a relaxing moderately strong body buzz. We like this strain a bit more then Back Forty’s Animal Mints cultivar, but you’ll probably still want to save this one for later in the day after you’ve finished any important tasks. Long story short, if you can get accustomed to the peppery spice flavour then you’ll find this bud quite enjoyable.

Since high school my friends and I have been recreational cannabis users so we decided to start Cannibros after legalization in 2019. We review and photograph the different products then share them on this website. The rating system we use is called “SAFE” which stands for Smell, Appearance, Flavour and Experience. Each category gets a score out of 10.
