Greybeard Afghani Drifter Review

Afghani Drifter is a potent hybrid strain that is balanced by solid terpene profile which includes myrcene, caryophyllene, and limonene.

Greybeard Afghani Drifter is a potent hybrid strain that’s origins are apparently connected to Afghani Kush and Skunk.

In terms of appearance, this strain is known for having bright green buds that are heavily laced with orange-hued hairs and covered in a frosty layer of trichomes. Afghani Drifter’s high THC potency is balanced by a solid terpene combination of myrcene, caryophyllene, and limonene. This wonderful cocktail gives give off the hashy, earthy aromas with undertones of funky musk and pepper spice.

How does this product compare to a Landrace strain like a true Afghan Kush?

Smell

The aroma this time around was definitely much stronger. Best described as a combination of earthy hops and hashy spice. This is one of those strains you need to sit on for a few minutes and allow all the different smells to fully come through.

Appearance

The appearance is like night and day compared to the first time we looked at this product. In fact, I’m wondering if we even got Afghani Drifter back in August. Previously these buds were dark, shaky and really unimpressive. However when we opened the container this time we were pleased to see large, bright green buds that were covered in a frosty layer of trichomes. Plus, they were fresh, spongy and quite sticky.

Flavour

There is certainly a strong earthy element to Afghani Drifter’s flavour profile which could it’s Kush lineage. However because the flower was fresh and not dry to the bone we found the smoke quite smooth and enjoyable. Major improvement from that first review.

Experience

Greybeard’s Afghani Drifter this time around was great. It delivered a balanced and relaxing high with physical and cerebral calming effects. We’re going to assume the last time we saw this product was some type of error, so if this Afghani Drifter is what Greybeard is offering then you should check it out and see what you think.

Smell

When we opened the black plastic container from Greybeard and immediately noticed the aroma both wasn’t strong and also extremely difficult to identify. After many many whiffs now we understand why. This aroma profile is comprised of 4 scents starting at sweetness, drifting to black pepper briefly before moving on to a lemony citrus and finishing on a note of hops. Talk about earning the drifter title!

Appearance

As we all know, the appearance matters. And it always hurts to see bud looking this full of stems. With so much stem to look at it is hard to appreciate the actual bud. It is leafy and doesn’t look well groomed. This certainly doesn’t look like a professional grow job. This strain is described has being bright green but the buds were got were the opposite, quite dark and very shaky.

Flavour

Fortunately the flavour profile of Afghani Drifter is more straight forward than its aroma. It has a strong flavour of sweet and spice with just barely noticeable traces of black pepper at its end which makes for a tasty puff.

Experience

Overall Greybeard’s Afghani Drifter is not bad (minus the appearance). The high itself delivers a strong body buzz that doesn’t couch-lock you and keeps you clear headed enough to focus with ease. Very relaxing high indeed. This product would fit somewhere in the middle of the pack, but given the higher then average price point you can find better.

Since high school my friends and I have been recreational cannabis users so we decided to start Merry Jade after legalization in 2019. We review and photograph the different products then share them on this website. The rating system we use is called “SAFE” which stands for Smell, Appearance, Flavour and Experience. Each category gets a score out of 10.

Have your say!

  1. Dang man. That doesn’t look like the classic greybeard most of us talk about. I got the batch just before this, 23.7% i think, and I bought 3 cans. The bud had almost no leaf and we’re perfect .5 to 2 gram nugs. As the smell was like sugar sprinkled on rubbery glue? I dunno. It’s smells and tastes amazing. High is moderate to high. I paid $29.50 a can tho, so I’d be less picky than if if I had to drop $44 or something. Nice review. Oh and I think they have a 7 and maybe 14g option I saw bunch of pics of beautiful 6 and 7 gram nugs of it. Somethin to look at if you see it, maybe. Aight. ✌🏽

    • It’s funny you say this because we noticed the same when we looked at this strain online. What we got did not match what people were describing. We reordered this one (and Spinach Blueberry) last week and both looked way better then the first time around. Visually its like night and day for both strains. Going to be updating this review (and Spinach Blueberry) some time this week to include the new info and photos.
