Melt GMO Cookiez is a potent indica-dominant strain that was created by crossing the much loved GMO Cookies with OZ Kush.
Finding information about this strain was tough, but apparently the flavour profile features a pungent yet sweet and citrusy taste with spicy undertones. The buds are suppose to be bright green, dense and a fairly substantial layer of trichomes. Melt says they’ve taken extra precautions to protect the trichomes because of the high terpene content that includes Beta-Caryophyllene, Limonene and Myrcene. So how does GMO Cookiez compare to similar strains?
Smell
This flower is our first experience with the Melt brand so no clue what to expect. It arrived in a smaller black bag with resealable zipper opening. We tore open the package and immediately were hit with that familiar GMO scent of french onion chips. Not overpowering (definitely have had more potent versions) but still quite strong and unmistakable for those familiar with this line of cultivars.
Appearance
Right off the bat, Melt included a humidity pack inside the bag which is great to see. The buds themselves were very tiny and a little dry, but they certainly looked similar to other GMO Cookies we’ve seen to date. Bright green nugs with sturdy brown hairs all wrapped up with a light dusting of trichomes.
Flavour
As you’d expect with a GMO strain the flavour follows the aroma. If you’ve never had this variety before then you might think the taste of french onion in weed is strange… but it’s also delicious. During exhale we found there was even a hint of a mushroom but this is very subtle. You’re either going to enjoy this one or really dislike.
Experience
Overall GMO Cookiez from Melt is a good product but possibly a bit overpriced. Listed at 24.5% THC and priced at $39.99 for 3.5 grams, we found this strain indeed leaned heavily into the sedative body effect while only mildly to moderately affecting mental focus. Avoid starting your day with this one unless you have a high THC tolerance.
