Tweed Green Cush Review

Green Cush from Tweed is a hybrid strain and also one of the parent strains of the popular OG Kush cultivar.

Tweed Green Cush is described as a high potency sativa-dominant hybrid that’s an original parent strain of the much loved OG Kush.

This is interesting because we ordered assuming it was Green Kush, an indica-dominant or balanced flower that was created by crossing Purple Kush with Green Crack. However that’s not what Tweed is selling. This product is different, it’s the result of mixing ’89 Super Sativa Seed Club Skunk #1 with an Afghani Landrace strain. In terms of flavour profile, Tweed indicates a sweet, fruity or floral combined with an aroma of hops, cloves and pine.

We’ve reviewed a bunch of Tweed products and found them hit and miss. We like their Afghan Kush and Royal Dankness strains but didn’t care much for their Hindu Kush or Balmoral… so how does Green Cush compare?

Smell

Green Cush arrived just like Tweed’s other products – inside a square metal tin with security top. Given this brands history we were not expecting an overpowering aroma, we popped off the lid and detected a moderately strong earthy herbal smell – a common thread among Kush strains. Not overpowering or award winning, but still pleasant and honestly a bit better then we expected.

Appearance

Tweed didn’t provide a humidity shield with any of their previous products and that trend continues with this one. Once the container’s contents were emptied, we noticed lots of tiny little buds that were also leafy and quite dry. The dark brown hairs contrasted nicely against the brighter green tones of leaf which is topped off by a decent trichome layer. The bud doesn’t look bad but definitely has that rougher greenhouse look.

Flavour

Green Cush’s flavour profile was a pretty good match to the aroma and presented a strong fresh herbal flavour with a very subtle fruity lime undertone which was unexpected but tasted nice. Although we can’t help but wonder how much better Tweed’s flower would taste if they included a humidity pack/terpene shield in the container.

Experience

Tweed’s Green Cush is not bad overall, but don’t get it confused with Green Kush. Listed as having 21.0% THC and priced at $26.95 for 3.5 grams, we found this product delivered a strong mental fog with an equally strong physical sensation that pulses through the body – a nice strong feeling, but more like a balanced hybrid buzz then sativa-dominant. However given the reasonable price tag, we’d recommend trying this one if you’re looking for something balanced. If you want a sativa that only produces mental alertness then this one might not be ideal.

Since high school my friends and I have been recreational cannabis users so we decided to start Merry Jade after legalization in 2019. We review and photograph the different products then share them on this website. The rating system we use is called “SAFE” which stands for Smell, Appearance, Flavour and Experience. Each category gets a score out of 10.

  1. I tried the green Cush quickies and the high was fantastic, not overpowering but a nice sense of elation and I could function with day to day tasks and enjoy them (bbq, making dinner, backyard work etc)
I do agree there is almost no cannabis smell when I smoked it. This could be good I guess if your lighting up and want to be discreet.

I like the tweed green cush and will definitely buy them again. Great (quickest) to sesh with in this movie times.

    • Awesome feedback Anvi. Tweed is one of those brands who could greatly improve their flavour by using a humidity shield. It’s amazing to me that only about half the brands use these when its such an inexpensive item.
